Reflections on my 2014 Bassmaster Classic Experience

Let me start off by saying thank you to all of you out there for your support.  I know I struggled to put it together, but I am truly blessed to be doing what I do.  To be able to make a living catching bass, I definitely have a lot to be thankful for.  To be honest, it just didn’t happen for me.  It’s hard to say what exactly happened after having such high hopes with a solid practice.  I flat out just didn’t catch them day one – that kind of took the wind out of my sails going into today.  I tried fishing some new areas, but ran into some other guys that were doing well in a lot of the places I thought to go.  I didn’t feel right stepping on their toes since they had a legitimate chance to win so I just went fishing today.  I just never figured them out.

I have to say it was very disappointing after coming in with such high hopes for this Classic.  I will say that you have to keep pushing forward.  My mind is already thinking about this Elite season and I’m excited.  At least six of the places were going to be fishing I’ve had a history of top 20 finishes.  We have a diverse schedule with a couple new fisheries.  I really like the bodies of water that were chosen and look forward to getting this 2014 Elite Series underway.  Good luck to the remaining competitor’s in the Classic tomorrow.  BASS continues to outdo themselves and this year has been a phenomenal show.  I’ll be at the Expo tomorrow so stop by and give me a shout if you’re in the area.  Can’t wait to hit Lake Seminole in a couple weeks! – SB
