Falcon Lake - Zapata, TX, Mar 21 - 24, 2013

Practice first thing Monday morning. And it's going to be a hot one in more ways than one. It's 97 degrees down here so I'm going to be packing plenty of water and plenty of sunscreen.

This is going to be an offshore structure game. We're not going to be site fishing and we're going to be in post-spawn conditions. It's time to get back to work.

Live Target just introduced two new deep-diving crawfish crankbaits so I hope to be sending those down to find some falcon giants. Rumor has it that it's not fishing as good years past. So we might be in for another tough battle here.

liveTarget250.jpgIt's about 20 feet lower than last time I fished here so it's going to be practically a new fishery for all of us. My pre-game plan is to break the lake up into three areas that I can concrete on each practice day. I've studied the Google Earth maps back when then water was low and now I need to rely on my Lowrance electronics to paint the picture for me about depth and location I need to concentrate on. Then I'll just listen to fish and let them tell me what kind of mood they're in and do my best to find 8 to 10 good areas I can concentrate on. After all, I have a race to win.
