Let's Get This Thing Started

IMG_1202.jpgThe Elite Series definitely timed this event right at Lake Seminole, in Bainbridge, Georgia.  Waves of fish are pushing shallow and with a full moon approaching it’s shaping up to be a slug fest.  There will definitely be some bags in the mid to upper twenty pound range with the chance of someone breaking thirty.  We could see someone eclipse the hundred pound mark for four days of competition too.  I’m glad to be back on the water after a disappointing Classic, and am ready to get this 2014 Bassmaster Elite Series started!

Weather conditions in practice have remained fairly stable, but even if there was a change I don’t think it would affect the bedding fish too much.  The majority of the fish will be caught shallow and I don’t see deep water really playing a factor in this one.  This isn’t my preferred way to fish, but as they say, when in Rome, do as the Roman’s do.  I'll fish whichever way I have to catch these big green fish swimming around in Seminole.

I’ve been spending most of my time in practice looking around and not fishing a whole lot.  I did manage to catch a solid eight pounder that has the confidence up.  I’m shooting for twenty plus pounds a day, as I believe that will be the number to crack the top 12.  I’ve fished here a couple times before, but each time was in February.  I did have success at one of those two and am looking to duplicate that effort.  It’s the start of a new season and it would be great to sure up a Classic berth right away.  You never know what can happen in this game and I’m looking forward to getting this thing started right tomorrow.  Weigh-ins will be live on Bassmaster.com and will start at 4pm tomorrow and run through Sunday.

I also wanted to take a moment to let you all in on a project myself, David Walker, and Luke Clausen got to be a part of called Project Z.  It’s a web TV show on Lake Guntersville where the three of us are thrown into different challenges and have to catch fish with a variety of Z-Man products.  It was really cool to be a part of and please check it out if you get the chance. -SN
