It's Go Time on the Bassmaster Elite Series

One thing's for sure, there is not a lot of history on this river system as far as the B.A.S.S. tournament trail goes. With very little to go on, it's going to be interesting. One thing that it looks like is this tournament is setting up to be more of an area lake rather than a pattern lake. There will be a few guys in the field that know the area and know where to find some clean water and that may put them a few steps ahead of the pack.

This is probably the muddiest water I've fished in quite some time. Knowing what I know about river systems, it may not clean up in time so I'm just going to do my best to hunt down those productive areas and put the trolling motor down and grind away.

Since I've only seen a handful of fellow competitors during practice, it's safe to say this place is fishing pretty big and there are going to be guys making some pretty long hauls to get to their areas. I also don't anticipate big bags coming in and think that 8-10 lbs the first two days will get you to the weekend with 12-13 lb. daily average taking you to Sunday.

With this being the first event of the season, there's a little added pressure to the event. The last thing you want to do is find yourself in a hole right out of the chute. But as of right now, we're all tied for first. It will be interesting to see what shakes out after this one.

So next is the pre-tournament meeting where there are more poker faces and whiners that you can shake a stick at. I don't put much stock in what's said but it can be entertaining. It can mess with some of the rookies but this isn't my first rodeo.

This is going to be a test for the first tournament. There are not going to be a lot of bites to be had. So you're going to have to stay sharp because there is going to be little margin for error on this one. It's Go Time!

Stay tuned for more Notes From The Boat and track me and the field on BASS Live Blog from my Tournament Trail page during the events.
